Slip-ups and suboptimal courts led to our team's obsession over the science of sneaker grip for athletes and how important it is for athletic performance and safety.
THE FIRST BREAKTHROUGH
A deep dive into rubber elasticizers led to our first big discovery for EDGE®'s proprietary formula. On the court, we experienced crisper cuts without any stickiness or dust pick-up. That's when we knew we were onto something.
THE FORMULA
Our next challenge was to meet the EPA's Safer Choice standard of non-toxicity and our own standards for our formula's drying speed. This translated to three years of iteration in the lab and on the court.
